You guys can scream, cry, sue, jump, sing, dance whatever, no one is going to touch any country cap legislation or any pro immi legislation till about 2011-12 at least (though i m sure it wont happen then either)
And they will never allow "no country cap" either-ways, call it unconstitutional or whatever, i am being realistic, they have quota on the diversity visa for a reason they think is appropriate, and they have a quota on the EB system for those same reasons.
Your only hope to get the "country cap" cleared up is that the Point based system gets through , like the one in CIR 2007, which i am sure will not happen before 2012, if it ever happens.

We worry about RP, EAD,AP etc. GC is not the end of the world. Is it worth worrying about the Plastic card.

When we tried to schedule infopass (for sep) we found only one are two dates and appointments start from 6 AM. Is this correct? Will the office be open so early? We got a slot at 7.30 AM.
Also once you book an appoinment, I see only 'cancel' option, how to get to modify option?

I landed in Jan08 thru Windsor border in Michigan. I drove in my car to CA. You'll go to the immigration officer who'll check your landing docs, and then ask you to sign the landing document. Then show them the proof of funds. I had a cashier's check for the amount. Then you'll be asked for an address in CA. If asked tell them you are planning to settle at the address. If you say you are returning to US, they'll not give you the PR card saying when you come to live in CA they'll issue it. I made that mistake. They stamp your passport with the entry stamp. Without a PR card you can't enter CA at an airport. Your only option is driving to CA thru a land border. They'll let you in with just the stamp on the PP. Fortunately I live close to Windsor border.
As someone pointed out, you'll then go to customs, where they'll check the goods you are bringing or plan to bring later. There are 2 different forms for 'bringing goods with you' and 'goods to follow'. Make sure you fill in all the item in your home on the 'goods to follow' with some details like model number, etc. If you are not planning to live to CA, don't fill anything on the 'bringing goods form.

I am in a similar position but working on 3 months contract through a consulting company on w2. It is similar to my 485 job details, but it is a short term project.
Would I get an RFE if I work on contract on W2?

I think one need to create database based on who came in what year and what is the priority data's . True there are people like me came in 2000 and still has priority date as Dec 2004, this is not my fault, this is forced by GC process tied with employer.
The landing or start date of H1b/L1B + old priority date should be the real beneficiary of spillover in respective of EB.

I am EB3, and i know we EB3 are screwed , and EB2 are luckier than us.
There is no need to fight,
If we dont get the GC , we can go back home(for me home is india) .... believe me home is not so bad( even after the blasts) Just enjoy your time here, live for the moment.
I work for an employer , whom i value more than EB2 , so i dont want to port to EB2(Even when i filed for EB3 , i was eligible for EB2 , But my lawyers assistant , just wanted to play safe) Everyone has his own preferences.
I think this is a post , for the EB3 to crib , and talk (humans feel good after doing that) so let us do that.

I filed late June at NSC trs to Texas and received on July 2nd. Just received my RN yesterday for my 485. On line it says that my ead has been approved and the notice went out on the 25th.
Did your checks cashed before you got the receipts? or receipts much faster?? Congrats!

My I-140 is pending in TSC. I have applied I-485 for self and wife on July 18. Received by K.Lawson in NSC on July 19th 9.29 AM.
Check are cashed today by TSC, saw the SRC# in back of my check.

Thanks for your reply. Lawyer sent 140 to Texas. But, it was transfered to NSC and got a receipt from NSC for 140. Do you think it is transferred to CSC not toTSC?

3. Adarsh Housing society scam --- Our culture
4. Land acquisition in states like K'taka and Andhra --- Our culture
5. Gang rapes in Delhi --- Our culture
6. IPL scams --- Our culture
7. Not allowed to hoist our flag in our own country (Kashmir) --- Our culture
8. Chinese can claim Arunachal and issue stapled visas - its OK. Pakis violate ceasefire - Not OK --- Our culture
9. North Indians treated as aliens in Mumbai --- Our culture

Just speaking 100 languages and celebrating 100 festivals and females not mingling with males thus keeping away from social life etc...is not culture. Ur every day news is culture as well. Wake up to reality and make the choice when u have the liberty to make it.
All said, its ur choice end of the day. Weighing b/w the good and bad and if ur tax money is put to good use or what? I think the writing on the wall is clear and can easily make out the differences b/w white and black. But again thats just me. 5 fingers are not the same.

While speaking 100 languages, celebrating 100 festivals and learning same values that we, our parents and their parents believed in is really a culture......
