Just like to correct you here my friend - Its incorrect to suggest that a house is a bad investment in the US. On the other hand, why treat it as an investment like so many foolish real estate speculators out there. Think of it as a place to live and be part of the American Dream. Just to remind ourself who we are. We are Highly skilled LEGAL immigrants. It not only means we are skillful but it also means we pay every damn tax which is out there. We pay for welfare. We pay for unemployed. We pay for pensioners. List goes on. We pay fees for every application processed by USCIS ( Labor, I-140,I-485,I-765,I-131 etc etc ). We pay rent. We buy cars. We buy houses. In short, we are nothing but GOLD to this economy.
However, this one department called USCIS is literally toying with us for yrs now as if we are slaves or we are obligated to them. We dont want anyone to do us any favour. We need justice.
Friends - I have self respect and i wasn't born chanting Green Card. I AM going to face them, confront them, demand them to provide justice, if not I want them to REFUND every penny i have paid so far. If this "I AM" becomes "WE", half the battle won. TOGETHER WE STAND, VICTORY/JUSTICE FOR ALL. If you are still hesitant, you made a bad choice of choosing option 2. Please go back to option 1.

Approved for two years beginning OCT to OCT/10
The weird part is that my I-131 application still shows pending on the USCIS website . My wife who is the Primary applicant got her application approved on 07/22 .

Ha ha Congrats....
Story of my life. I complain about delay with my application. Someone joins me and tells me they are in the same boat and the very next day that someone leaves the boat and jumps into "greener" pastures. Everyone is leaving the boat and I seem to be left out :(

I called on friday. Had to explain the lady that as per press-release, my receipt number should be issued. After 20 minutes of discussions, she escalated my call to another officer. She checked the database with my name, DOB and A# but she could not find any thing related to I-485.

Like i said, we ask them to do either one of 2 options. If they dont, we file a lawsuit ( obviously its understood the ground work is done )

What happens when 485 is pending for more than 180 days and a person already used EAD for his current JOB(because of the policy of the Employer saying that: Once they apply for EAD employee needs to use EAD and company will not extend H1B anymore). Eventually employee will use EAD.
The he loses his JOB(with Current Emlpoyer who is the sponsorer of 140 & 485)? And say he remains without similar JOB for example 2-4 weeks and then finds a JOB with similar JOB description? Does he still remain on Adjustment of Status? Does he needs to be continuously employed till his 485 is adjudicated?
Please provide some input. All your opinions would help many folks!

I opened a SR for non receipt of my FP notice, on 30Oct2007. I got a reply from USCIS exactly after 45 days ( very prompt) notifying me that " my FP has not yet expired or my FP is not yet cleared". Certainly this looks like a canned reply from USCIS which was sent even without looking at my file. I guess they should be more transparent in their process than just sending plain lies.

Why don;t you sign unless it say until and after 1 year approval:, you can leave employment after 6 months of filing I-485 and see what happens at that time, you have nothing to loose
I have dealt all options with my employer ...
They will give me "Employer Letter" ASAP but i have to sign a letter that i'll work with them for 1 year after getting 485 approval.
What does it mean - Indirectly i have to work with them till 485 approval ( which could be 3 yrs easily) plus another 1 year ??

I did try to talk to customer care but it was of no help.
They tell me to wait for 30 days and sometime 60-90days.
They say you will become actual permanent resident when you get the card The card is important.
You now USCIS don�t know when they will change their minds.
To better be on safe side to get it stamped on my passport. I took info pass on 8-11-08 it will be almost 30 days,
let�s wait and see

Incorrect. One is permanent resident since the date of I-485 approval. Card is just a physical evidence indicating your status.

I have been waiting for the FP in the hope that they will be issuing it soon, its already Feb and I have not received it yet. Im the only one who has not recieved the notice yet in my friends circle, I have opened an SR last week. Mine is TSC application. Are there any TSC guys yet to receive the FP notices. Overall are there a significant number of people still waiting or is it just a few of us
