    Can you definesensible people.

    I think that what they want is the Hispanic vote taken away from the Republicans. They are a bunch of crooks. Sen Kennedy said: Anybody jumping the fence now should get a greencard.

    What abot the legal ones tha t habe been here 5+ years waiting for a GC.

    Sensible people are those who don't get carried away by emotions. I know that is a very subjective definition :) but I tried.

    Let's not call the Dems any names here. I would urge the super-mod to delete derogatory references to any party.

    Basically optimistic projections predict that 1 million high tech new jobs are created in a good economy in 10 years time. That means 100k per year average. There are 85k H1b and another 80k L1b are coming every year to USA. Also some of 140k immigrants are new. So Opt and TN visa unlimited number of persons. Apart from this there are some USA people are studying here and trying for job. And number of Indian students also increasing gradually. For the 100K high tech jobs 500K persons may compete. If they expand H1b it is going to increase the compettion. Nowadays resume of inexperienced persons are much more attractive than those who are really working(So many thousands of fake resumes). I do not know how it will end


    Do you have a brain? seriosly... .. I wish people like u suffer through what everyone else who has lost a job or in the bnech go through...

    So why the hell u came to the country... i think u are one of those cheap ass off shore guys who is onsite and showing off.. man

    dont come to me mouthing off again... i did my master's here and i got job in OPT and my company sponsored my H1. I have friedns who sufferd through the phase of not getting a job and had to go through the desi consultants.. they were in no way inferior to u or me.. plain bad luck.. u ask them to go to their home country is it... moron grow some brains

    In the past week, the "Protest Blooms" campaign notched up the following wins:
    Times of India article
    Buzz in the blogosphere
    Attention from many attorney websites and blogs
    Had a Washington Post journalist show interest in our issue and had tens of our members talk to her - which should result in a good article. How many times have we seen so many regular members of IV being able to speak to a reporter of a mainstream US publication on our issues?
    Had a senior Reuters editor talk to many of us and he promised a sustained coverage of our issues
    Had a senior reporter from New York Times talk to me
    Had the footage of this entire event shown on CNN in India
    Had many small media outlets which never cover these kind of issues, cover it (in smaller towns in MN and NY)
    Created a sense of action in the community which was feeling pretty dejected after the USCIS fiasco
    Had USCIS director react to us
    Had so much interest generated that the IV website was brought down J
    Brought a great deal of attention to IV (see previous point)And all this was accomplished with a severe time crunch. The grassroots effort involved in this campaign was unbelievable - thanks to everyone who kept the faith.

    Was the point of this campaign to have our flowers be decorated on the desk of the director of USCIS? I don't think so. The word again was "symbolic" and that purpose is served whether the flowers are in boxes or in full view of the world.

    Would it have made for better visuals if the flowers were in full view? Sure. Is there a way to improve upon every campaign? Sure.

    Let us learn from what went right and what went wrong and use this to better execute all future events.

    Like poste din another thread, I called USCIS customer service today to speak about EAD application that has been pending for 60+ days. The Phone rep told that he cannot give me any information about any cases right now since their "system is down". I asked for clarificationand he said that cases are still being processed but the system used to view status is down. Not sure what that means.

    Not sure if this will cause any more delays .............. I need EAD renewed by Sept since my current one expires then

    Also anybody has any ideas on what "Plan B" might be if renewal is further delayed by sept?

    When i initially got RFE, i didn't know at that time that there were already few H1-B's denied from my company. I believe last year when CSC started processing H1-B's they issued RFE's to lot of companies. Most of them got through even though they had few issues but unfortunately my ex-employer got caught and they have denied majority of extensions and new petitions with the reasons i have mentioned before. Till that time, i didn't had much knowledge about the process. I thought i was safe coz my W-2's were almost double the amount that stated on the labor and i was employed, i have provided all the client details, PO and everything. Inspite of that, my extension was denied. Coming to your questions, i have moved out of the company after 6 months of my 485 filing. I haven't filed any H1-B, No AC21(just change of attorney) and i also have an another 140 pending with my new employer and i don't think that 140 is going to work coz there are lot of complexities. Talk to your employer about this. Are you the only person in this situation or anyone else with you in your company. Are there any other petitions that are recently being approved or denied? He is the right person who can tell you about your petition. If you think your employer is not that good by sticking with all the rules,you still have time to move to another company. Even if your petition gets denied, if you want to maintain H1-B status, you can still do that, but there is little bit of extra money involved to get back on to it.

    There is nothing to be nervous about this coz there is very little that you can do about this. Majority of the companies got this RFE and lot of them got out of it. Looks like you have a good relation with your company ( 5 years is a good amount of time ). Please talk to them and make a decision based on what they have to say..Hope everything goes well .. never know u could be green before your extension decision is made..Good luck..

    SIA Urges Support for 'SKIL Bill'; Cornyn Bill Would Help High-Tech Industries Facing Shortage of Scientists and Engineers

    SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- May 2, 2006 -- The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) today expressed strong support for S. 2691, legislation known as the "SKIL Bill" (Securing Knowledge Innovation and Leadership). The bill was introduced by Senator John Cornyn (R, TX) and co-sponsored by Senators George Allen (R, VA), Wayne Allard (R-CO), Robert Bennett (R-UT), Michael Enzi (R-WY), and Trent Lott (R-MS).



    The legislation has four main provisions supported by technology companies:

    -- It reforms both the H-1B visa and employment-based (EB) green card processes by exempting U.S.-educated foreign workers with advanced degrees from the H-1B and EB quotas.

    -- It creates a flexible, market-based H-1B cap. The current limits on such visas were reached in August 2005, preventing U.S. employers from utilizing H-1B visas to hire workers with critically needed advanced skills until October of 2006.

    -- It extends the optional post-curricular training program for foreign students to 24 months from the current 12 months. This provision would make it easier for skilled individuals to go from student to green card status.

    -- It exempts immigrant spouses and children of EB and green card workers from the annual cap, thus making more visas available for highly skilled workers.

    "America is simply not graduating enough scientists and engineers to keep our country in the forefront of innovation and technology," said SIA President George Scalise. "The provisions in Senator Cornyn's 'SKIL bill,' as well as similar provisions in the two versions of comprehensive immigration reform introduced by Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter, address our critical shortage of scientists and engineers. The Congress must quickly pass legislation to keep foreign-born, U.S. educated talent working for U.S. companies. Leadership in technology has been critical to driving economic growth, enhancing productivity, improving our standard of living, and ensuring national security. Leadership is not a birthright -- it must be earned, and it takes highly skilled scientists and engineers to earn leadership," Scalise concluded.

    I am in for $100.

    By the way if we have 20,000 members and even if each pledge $5, we can reimburse the core team expenses. How often we have to teach and tell the Math to our so called highly skilled free riders.

    Some should be feeling really guilty for using IV and not contributing till now. Come out the stingy attitude and help.

    Thats because 19,236 members hide somewhere when there are talks about $.
    If some people want to criticize IV same 19,236 members will be first to jump on forums and post messages!

    I sent my 485 to NSC on JUL 3rd, my 140 approved NSC, no receipts from
    TSC yet. Does any body got receipts who applied on JUL 3rd...?
    If your 140 Approved from NSC then you should get receipts from NSC. Not from TSC.

    I have dealt all options with my employer ...

    They will give me "Employer Letter" ASAP but i have to sign a letter that i'll work with them for 1 year after getting 485 approval.

    What does it mean - Indirectly i have to work with them till 485 approval ( which could be 3 yrs easily) plus another 1 year ??

    I don't know what to say, I have been thinking all day about what you may be going through.


    Then I thought of what I would do if I were in your situation... I thought of people like Lance Amstrong and many others who have battled hard and have proven doctors wrong.

    Like many here suggested, get a 2nd or 3rd opinion.

    I hope and pray that you will find that inner determination to fight back.

    Hey man. What a brave man you are. Rather then worrying about your self, you are actually concerned about your wife getting her green card. I commend you. I dont what I would have done, If I had been told this news.

    your whole family will be in our prayers. I am sure you are seeking all the help you need, but right now your #1 priority should be beating this. Green card will come and go, but your health is number 1.

    Where are you. I believe if you get in touch with the senator or congressmen from you state, I am sure they will help you in this matter.
